1. Job Title: Assistant Professor- “Position 1”
Job Details
Boğaziçi University, the Department of Foreign Language Education invites applications for a full-time assistant professorship to begin in 2020.
Qualifications
Candidates must have native or native-like fluency in English with demonstrable skills in oral and written communication. A PhD in Second Language Acquisition and Teaching or Applied Linguistics (or in a closely related field) is required. Applicants must have a strong commitment to undergraduate education and be willing to collaborate with students in and out of the classroom. Teaching experience at the university level is desirable. Proof of publication is expected.
Responsibilities
The position involves teaching undergraduate courses on academic writing, development of communicative skills and critical thinking as well as supervision of the practicum of senior students. Applicants will also be expected to have a strong research agenda and to participate in scholarly activities.
Department Information
The Department of Foreign Language Education, in the Faculty of Education, has 14 full-time faculty members. The department offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in English Language Education and Applied Linguistics.
University Information
Boğaziçi University was founded in 1863 under the name of Robert College as the first American college established outside of the US. Since then it has served as a leading international institution of higher education in the region. In 1971, it was transformed into a Turkish state university in which the medium of instruction is English. Boğaziçi University, the Department of Foreign Language Education invites applications for a full-time assistant professorship to begin in 2020.
Qualifications
Candidates must have native or native-like fluency in English with demonstrable skills in oral and written communication. A PhD in Second Language Acquisition and Teaching or Applied Linguistics (or in a closely related field) is required. Expertise in ‘online language learning’ and ‘teacher education’ is a must. Applicants must have a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate education and are expected to supervise MA and PhD students and develop a research program. Teaching experience at the university level is desirable. Proof of publication is expected.
