Welcome to Poznan in 2012

by Anna Ewert

We are very happy to host the EuroSLA22 conference in Poznań in 2012. The conference will take place between 6 and 8 September, with pre-conference events planned for 5 September. We are also pleased to announce that the plenary addresses at the conference will be delivered by: Jean-Marc Dewaele (University of London), Alex Housen (University of Brussels, VUB), Guillaume Thierry (Bangor University) and Anna B. Cieślicka (Texas A&M International University and Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań). We chose Expanding discipline boundaries as the theme for the conference to emphasize that second language acquisition research has almost always been interdisciplinary, connecting with fields as diverse as linguistics and cognitive neuroscience. The Language Learning Round Table on 5 September will focus on Interdisciplinary perspectives on the acquisition of second language phonology (pending support from the Language Learning journal).  We welcome colloquia, papers and posters from all strands of SLA research. More information will be available on the conference website at http://ifa.amu.edu.pl/eurosla22/start

Poznań is the biggest city in the west of Poland and a major academic centre in the country. The city is comfortably connected with most destinations in Europe, with frequent flights from major airports in Germany and the British Isles. Poznań has a lot to discover in your spare time. While there, you can admire the baroque interiors of the Parish Church and the Franciscan Church, visit the Palm House in Wilson’s Park, take a stroll along the regatta course at Malta Lake, go shopping in the Old Brewery centre or just enjoy a glass of beer in the picturesque Old Market Square!
