Getting to Reggio Emilia

Reggio Emilia is well connected by air, rail and road.

By air

Bologna airport is the closest to Reggio Emilia. From there take the BLQ bus to Bologna train station (about 25 mins; buses every 15 mins). There are no direct buses from the airport to Reggio Emilia.

Other convenient airports are Milan, Verona, and Parma. From Milan Malpensa and Linate take a bus to the train station. Don't take the train from Malpensa, as it doesn't reach the central train station.

Bergamo Orio al Serio is a major hub for low-cost flights: from there take a bus to Milan Central station (1h20’) and then a train to Reggio Emilia.

By train

Reggio Emilia can easily be reached from any major Italian city. Routes, timetables and fares can be found on www.ferroviedellostato.it.

Don’t forget to stamp your ticket in the small yellow machines scattered in the station before boarding, and make sure to travel on the very train you have bought the ticket for: if you take another train on the same line, the fare may be different.

By road

Reggio Emilia is on the A1, Italy’s main motorway, linking the city to major routes across the country. From the motorway exit follow the signs to the city centre, and leave your car at ‘Parcheggio Zucchi’, which is right under the University building.

Getting to the conference venue

Address

Facoltà di Scienze della formazione (College of Education)

Caserma Zucchi, Via A. Allegri, 9

42121 Reggio Emilia

Walking

Reaching the University from the train station is easy. Use the main exit at the front in the ticket office hall (disregard the secondary exit on the back, leading to a parking lot). Right outside of the station take Via Eritrea on your right. Keep walking straight ahead for about 10 minutes until you reach a big park. Cross it keeping to the right of the theatre building and you’ll find Via Allegri and the big red university building on your right.

By taxi

The taxi station is just outside the railway station. A radio taxi service is available (+39) 0522-452545.

Public transport

The bus stop is outside the train station. Take Minibus “A”  and get off at bus stop “Via Allegri”. You can buy tickets at the newspapers kiosk or at the ACT office inside the station.  For more information on how to move around in Reggio Emilia, visit the bus company website although you probably will not need buses if you’re staying in or near the city centre.
